Up for grabs is one freshly built one of a kind BEYOND gorgeous aluminum chassis bike cargo trailerI'm a bike guy, and a hobby carpenter.... this is my recent passion project to haul my other non-cycling ebay
wares to my local post office, aka my business trailer... but unfortunately I broke my arm & a leg in a downhill bike
race 2 days after I built this thing... and won't be riding for many months & can always just build myself another one..
So I offer this to the world!
This *was* a brand new (maybe had 2-3 miles on it) older Schwinn brand dual child kid trailer... til I got my hands on it!
Every part/finish on it is less than 30 days old, and I never got around to using it
The only original pieces to the trailer are the square frame, wheels & tongue... all other aluminum has
been added by me to "catch" the wood panels.. and all added aluminum parts are riveted on..
The wood itself is reclaimed from a country barn outside of seattle..it was reduced from 2" down to what it is now
with a planer, then I torched it, then golden stained. The underside & edges were finished off with gloss black
oil based exterior paint & every face of the planks was then given 3 coats of outdoor spar varnish for a super high gloss...
the wood is as water tight as you can get!
I rounded over 2 pieces to create inner fenders to keep cargo from touching the wheels
I also added 6 total black anodized eyebolts strategically around the frame to use as tiedowns.. my intent was
to haul duffle bags around so ropes/strap is all I needed.. I did pick up & include a mesh stretch cargo not that covers
about half the flatbed
The front has a heavy duty cordura nylon zip top tool pouch riveted to it.. perfect for carrying tie down straps, cargo net,
bicycle locks/tools etc...
Trailer weighs in at just about 25 pounds.. I kept it simple to keep it lightweight
Measures about 31" long & 27" wide....
Trailer is shown in pics attached to my 29" wheel mountain bike.. so yes, it will work with a 29'er or road bike!
At the end of the day, mechanically this is as close to new as you can get but as mentioned the chassis might have had
a couple of miles on it as well as the tires but even those are in brand new shape
I will also be including the "hitch" that needs to be mounted to the bike... it should work on just about any bicycle
with standard rear triangles but I can help source a hitch for you if you have an abnormal bike
I also can add custom anything to this if you'd like.. like lights, reflectors etc...
