RARE NEAT WWII GERMAN WALTHER P-38 3.5 INCH SNUB NOSE BARREL EAGLE 359 1963 KRARE NEAT WWII GERMAN WALTHER P-38 3.5 INCH SNUB NOSE BARREL EAGLE 359 1963 K
Description
Presented for the advanced collector of Axis pistols or the restoration specialist is this most interesting Walther P-38 barrel which has been cut down to 3.5 inches. This barrel is in untouched, uncleaned, as-found condition and is, more or less, near mint. This barrel was acquired in a box lot of WWII miscellany from a veteran estate. THAT is the only reason, in addition to some old raised rust patina on the muzzle face, which leads me to the conclusion that this was professionally accomplished during the war years or very long ago. Who did it and why is anyone's guess. Apocryphal stories exist of "snub nose" P-38s being used by Gestapo or Kripo agents; thus, the appeal. This barrel job was skilfully accomplished at some point and finished in a commensurate manner with the original Walther factory finish. There are a couple of small, but very old raised rust spots which are near the muzzle and curl around onto the face of the barrel where it had been cut. That doesn't happen overnight and wasn't done by "Bubba." Regardless, this is a neat WWII relic. The barrel is correctly marked with the Walther "eagle 359" WaffenAmt and the "Reichsadler." The front of the barrel base is correctly serial numbered "1963 k." Original finish rates a very conservative 95%+. This fine barrel would complement any collection of Walther P-38 pistols or accessories and is in most serviceable condition if you cared to convert your P-38 into a "snubby." The locking block spring and captive pin are present. Fine WWII German arms components from Brother Rabbit's hutch!
