Dr. Pepper promoted the idea of serving Dr. Pepper hot during the 1960's due to
declining
soft drink sales during the winter.
Commercials suggested heating the soda in a
saucepan
up to 180
degrees
and then pouring it over a lemon
leaving a drink that was sweet, warm, and flat as the
carbonation
was
removed
during the heating process.
These small cups were likely used to promote serving the
beverage
hot.
The advertising phrase Serve Dr Pepper Hot is on two sides of the cup.
Each cup holds
